How It Works:

  • Participate: Sign up to Beanstack to try one of our many reading challenges!

  • Read: Complete a set number of books, hours, or specific tasks depending on the challenge.

  • Win: Earn rewards for completing challenges or enter raffles for a chance to win exciting prizes!

Current Reading Challenges

Paw-some Books: Lazy Dog Reading Challenge

Dive into the tails (and tales!) of our furry friends by reading at least 20 books about dogs and earn a FREE kid’s meal from Lazy Dog Restaurant as a reward for your dedication and love of reading. Use Beanstack or pick up a physical log to track your progress, and turn it in to claim your prize. Older children can expand their horizons by exploring books about the restaurant industry, food, or cooking. These stories will give you a taste of the behind-the-scenes magic that brings meals to life!

For Ages: 0-12

End Date: December 31st


ComicsPlus Reading Challenge

Explore the incredible world of comics, manga, and graphic novels with our new reading challenge! Through Comics Plus, you have access to over 20,000 digital titles—perfect for every kind of reader. Sign in to ComicsPlus with your library card and aim to read 30 volumes and/or titles by January 5th. Complete the challenge to be entered in a raffle for one of four Boox Onyx eReaders! Whether you’re into superheroes, fantasy, slice-of-life, or classic shounen, there’s something waiting for you. Let the adventure begin, one volume at a time!

For Ages: 13+

Dates: Nov 11th, 2024 - Jan 5th, 2025


Paw-some Books: Lazy Dog Reading Challenge

One thousand books? That seems like way too many, right? Not at all. You got this. There's no better time to start than now! Reading helps build social and emotional skills, sparks creativity and imagination, promotes bonding, and helps little ones learn key literacy skills. Take that motivation, open one book, and get started. And remember, 1000 is just a number. The goal is to work reading aloud into your regular routine and let the magic of stories do the rest. Log each time you read a book to earn awesome badges and after you reach milestones pick up a prize from the Children's Department. Happy reading!

Be A Machine: Winter Reading Challenge

Ready, set, READ! We encourage young readers to challenge themselves to become reading machines this month. From Jan. 1-30, reflect on the past year and set new reading goals, log your reading minutes to earn badges on your virtual bingo card!

Complete a line of bingo and earn a bookmark; complete the whole page to win a FREE KIDS MEAL COUPON at Norms Restaurants (valid until January 30th)! We challenge children to read and log at least 300 minutes (about 20 picture books) during the challenge. For logging your minutes read, you will earn fun, new badges.

For Ages: 0-10

End Date: January 30th

How to Beanstack

To create a Beanstack account, click the sign up button below. Families may be linked together through parent/guardian information.

Challenges are targeted for specific age groups. Check the age before signing up for a specific challenge.

To earn badges, complete each challenge as described on the webpage. For example, a bingo challenge will require you to get bingo by filling out badges in arow, column or diagonal line.

Once you’ve completed a challenge, you’ll either receive a prize and/or be entered into a raffle to win a prize. Please read each challenge description to find out the type of reward system it uses. Visit the Library to retrieve your prize with verification on Beanstack.
