Sewing Club

The Workshop is excited to announce our brand new monthly Sewing Club!

During Sewing Club, you can utilize the Workshop’s equipment and materials to work on an independent sewing project. Don’t have a project in mind? No worries! A select number of beginner sewing projects will be available to you during the session.

Sewing Club participants will be provided assistance and guidance, including instruction on sewing machine use, by our guest instructor, Sharon White. Workshop staff will also be available to provide assistance when possible, and we encourage club members to help each other too! We all have different backgrounds and experiences, so we’ll be learning from each other.

The Workshop will have a limited number of sewing machines available during the session that will be offered to participants on a first come, first served basis. In the event that all sewing machines are occupied, you may still participate in any aspects of the sewing process that don’t require a machine. If you have your own sewing machine, we highly encourage you to bring it with you to the session! All types of sewing projects are welcome.

Sewing Club sessions are drop-in, meaning you do not have to pre-register in order to attend the session. Space is limited! We ask that you arrive promptly at the beginning of the session in order to secure your spot.

Available materials include: sewing machines, assorted fabric, sewing needles and thread, pins, quilt batting, embroidery materials, irons and ironing boards, and much more!

Please email workshop@downeyca.org with any questions.
