Interlibrary Loans
What is it?
An Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service that we provide that allows our members to borrow books from other libraries. Typically, materials that are requested through the Interlibrary Loan Request Form arrive within 4-6 weeks. When you make a request for an ILL, you will receive an email when your item arrives and is ready to be picked up. To acquire materials via ILL, submit a request below.
Guidelines
ILL items cannot be renewed
It may take 4-6 weeks to receive your item
There is a $4.00 fee for all ILL requests, including items that are not picked up
Requests to cancel ILL’s must be submitted before closing on the same day the original request was submitted in order to avoid the $4.00 fee
There is a $1.00 fee for each day an ILL item is returned after its due date
This service is available to Downey City Library card holders in good standing
If we already own a copy of an item, then it is not eligible for ILL request
Books published within the last 12 months are not eligible for ILL request
Media items (CDs / DVDs / BluRay) are not eligible for ILL request
Each card holder may have up to 2 active ILL requests
